About Us

The SWWP was established in November 1999, by three local Somali women who felt  motivated and enthusiastic in providing a service for women in Somali community. A great need for this project was evident as there was no specific organisation that addresses refugees and women in Bromley or the surrounding Boroughs. From our experience in this field there are well over 100 families each having an average of about 6-7 children. The majority of these families speak little or no English, many mothers are single parents due to the death or separation from their husbands. Furthermore, many women from this community are illiterate in their own language. The SWWP acts as a life line for many refugee women and we aim to build the capacity and sustain such a resource for all women in South London.
